Stubbs, DeFabio representing Erie on AAF-District 2 Executive Committee

Two Erie professionals and past presidents of the Advertising Federation of NWPA (formerly the Erie Ad Club) are moving up the ranks in the American Advertising Federation – District Two.

Colleen Stubbs

Colleen Stubbs, creative director at Altman-Hall Associates, will be stepping up as governor of District Two in July of 2010. Stubbs has held the position of governor designate since 2008, and was secretary from 2004 to 2008.

Doreen DeFabio, advertising sales associate for the Erie Times-News, will continue as corresponding secretary for District Two, a position that she’s held since 2006.

District Two is made up of 16 ad clubs and 5,200 members throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Delaware and Maryland. As governor, Stubbs will provide the clubs a voice at the national level by holding a seat on the AAF Board of Directors, and will represent District Two on the influential Council of Governors, both of which set advertising-monitoring government policies on the national, regional and local levels.

Doreen DeFabio

As corresponding secretary, DeFabio is in charge of all communications between the clubs, District Two and the American Advertising Federation. She maintains and updates the District Two Web site, LinkedIn Group, Facebook groups, Google Message Board and coordinates and executes all email blasts. She is also responsible for producing the District Two Directory and also helping to organize and run the District Two Fall Conference, the New York ADDY Judging and the District Two ADDY Judging.

In addition to her involvement with the executive committee of District Two, Stubbs, who held the position of AFNWPA president from 2002-2004, has been a judge at several ADDY competitions throughout the U.S. on local and district levels. She has also been a judge for the AFNWPA’s Student Scholarship Competition, regularly speaks at colleges and universities on topics of advertising, interviewing and creating a portfolio, and acts as the internship program coordinator at Altman-Hall. Stubbs received the AAF-District Two Crystal Prism Award from the AFNWPA in 2006, which spotlights an individual who has made outstanding contributions to their advertising community through their local advertising federation.

DeFabio has been active with District Two since 2005, when she was appointed lieutenant governor of club relations for the northwest area, overseeing and offering guidance to the advertising clubs of Erie, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse. She has been a member and actively involved in the AFNWPA since 1985, serving as president in 2001 and on the Board of Directors from 1998-2001, holding the positions of first and second vice president, ADDY chairperson, auction chairperson, print coordinator, secretary, membership director and program chair.
